Frequently Asked Questions

What to take on a hike?

A basic list includes a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, backpack, stove, cookware, flashlight, and first aid kit. The specific set depends on the season, duration, and type of hike. Use the ready-made list examples on this page as a basis.

How to calculate backpack weight?

Create a list of all items in our calculator. For each item, enter the weight manually or use the "Auto" button to automatically determine the weight using AI. The total weight is calculated automatically.

What to take on a mountain hike?

For a mountain hike, you need a sturdy tent, warm sleeping bag, insulated sleeping pad, trekking poles, headlamp, and water filter. See the "Mountain Hike" example in the examples section above.

What to take on a day hike?

For a one-day hike, a minimal set is enough: a light tent (if you plan to stay overnight), sleeping bag, sleeping pad, backpack, and stove. The "Day Hike" example will help you create a compact list.

How to build an ultralight kit?

Choose the lightest options for each item: ultralight tent or tarp, down sleeping bag, thin sleeping pad, minimalist backpack. Use the "Ultralight Kit" example as a reference.

Can I export the list (XLSX/DOCX/TXT)?

Yes, the service supports exporting the gear list to XLSX (Excel), DOCX (Word), and TXT (text file) formats. Export buttons are located at the top of the calculator page.

How to import my own gear list?

You can upload a list from a TXT or XLSX file, or upload a photo of the list. The service automatically recognizes items and their weight using AI.
